Foxwynd Foundation Financial Assistance Program Grant

Friendship House is proud to share the approval of the Friendship House Financial Assistance Program grant of $30,000.00 from the Foxwynd Foundation.

As an organization that strives toward creating an inclusive and supportive community towards those facing homelessness and houselessness, Friendship House looks forward to utilizing this grant in providing critical resources to provide a pathway for Delawareans to find financial security.

The Foxwynd Foundation DAF funded the Foxwynd Foundation’s generous donation to Friendship House, Inc.

“The Bentley family is proud to support Friendship House, recognizing their vital role in providing essential resources and support to those in need. We believe in their mission to uplift and empower individuals, fostering a stronger, more resilient community.” — Pamela Villagra, Executive Director, Foxwynd Foundation.

The Friendship House Financial Assistance Program provides support for individuals facing homelessness or houselessness by guiding people through financial obligations such as outstanding utility bills and rent, required security deposits, and help with obtaining Birth Certificates, ID, and Social Security cards – which are necessary to securing housing.

Various aspects of everyday life are great expenses. Friendship House strives to lift financial stressors for individuals involved in the Financial Assistance program. We cap our assistance at $200 per household for rent and utilities in order to serve as many people as possible. With costs continuously rising around Delaware and throughout the nation, we understand the need to increase the maximum amount of help in order to provide continuous assistance. With the support of the Foxwynd Foundation grant, we are able to raise the maximum per household to $300 for 600 families. As we enter the difficult season of winter where the risk of losing housing and utilities increases, we are proud to be able to provide this financial support for our clients.

Friendship House’s mission is centered around the idea of providing a place where individuals in need can truly call home. The various Empowerment Centers located around Delaware allow those in need to find their own sense of community through Friendship House programs, much like the Financial Assistance Program. With access to computers, telephones, and mail within Empowerment Centers, this grant will ensure those involved in Friendship House programs continued access to various communication resources.

Despite the many physical resources Friendship House makes available to anyone facing homelessness or houselessness, the sense of community and inclusion created through resources like Empowerment Centers and the Financial Assistance Program are what truly make the Friendship House mission come true.
