Code Orange
Code Orange is designed to offer indoor, air-conditioned locations during extreme daytime heat. Friendship House will call Code Orange in Delaware when temperatures feel like 100 degrees or higher and on days when our Empowerment Centers are closed.
If someone is in need of day time Code Orange shelter, confirm we have called it (check out our Facebook page) and then send them to one of our open locations, no referral is needed.

We have found that many coffee shops and places of business in Wilmington are closed on Saturday mornings, leaving people living on the streets with nowhere to go. FH offers Saturday Winter Programming December through February making it so that we offer hospitality 7 days a week in Wilmington. In 2022, we sheltered 60 individuals through Saturday Winter Programming.
We have Saturday Winter Programming at First & Central Presbyterian Church (1101 N Market St, Wilmington, DE 19801) every Saturday morning 6:00 am – 9:00 am December 1 – February 28 .
